From the recording VIVA LOSJONES

Vodka in the Freezer is about a former bandmate who overestimated his leverage with his partner and overvalued his charm when it came to trying to convince the locals to supply him with drinks and gas money.
On the eve of a roadtrip to play some gigs, he started a fight with his wife in order to buy some emotional freedom. He was out of town, out of money, and had no assurance that there would be a home waiting for him upon his return.
His solution was to wager his last remaining dollars at the off track betting counter. His horses didn't place. The band eventually returned to Phoenix, although it was uncertain if there was anything waiting for him.

Lyrics

Vodka in the freezer
Baby I’m courageous
Money’s on a brown horse
Running on TV.
The odds might be against her
You know that never stops me
If I don’t find a fast horse
I’m never getting home

Would it be crazy, would it be crazy
If there’s vodka in the freezer?
Would it be crazy, would it be crazy
If I said that I didn’t
need that piece of mind…need that piece of mind?

It drove me up the mountain
A blinding night of anger
I said I wouldn’t be home
Until you apologized
I’m calling to forgive you
If you would only answer
If I don’t find a fast horse
I’m never getting home

Would it be crazy, would it be crazy
If there’s vodka in the freezer?
Would it be crazy, would it be crazy
If I said that I didn’t
need that peace of mind…need that peace of mind?

My money’s running dead last
I’m ripping up my ticket
If I don’t find horse
I’m never getting home

Would it be crazy, would it be crazy
If there’s vodka in the freezer?
Would it be crazy, would it be crazy
If I said that I didn’t need it…?
(repeat)

… need that peace of mind
… need that peace.
